The work is an interpretation of coastline. The spectrum moves from dramatic and rugged edges to brighter and softer beaches.

This geography contrasts the turbulent coast of northwest Scotland with the more tranquil fringe of Cape Cod, neighbouring edges separated by "the pond".

Portrayal of weather and light is central to the sea and coast pieces.
